Let’s colour together with this free colouring book

Who would have thought that colouring books for adults would be so popular today? Just about every outlet that sells books including many gift shops are stocking these books.
My Colouring Book

I remember a few years back seeing a book on a stand in a gift shop, the theme was wild birds. The lines were intricate and delicate and were visually appealing and fascinating to look at. I wondered then who would buy this.

If I had surmised this was the start of an avalanche of books I would be at the forefront of the market. Hindsight is so wonderful.
We have come a long way from sitting down and trying to stay in the lines.

“Now keep in the lines” we would hear from Mum, Dad or whoever was watching us.

When we had grown, occasionally we would pick up the coloured pencils and demonstrate our skills, and perhaps get a flash back from our younger years… reminiscing and drifting back to those carefree days before reality shakes us back to the present.
Now at last we can unashamedly colour, knowing that it’s ok and a great way to relax and de-stress from our busy lives

‘Oh to be a kid again
to colour wild and free’

A little history
Colouring Books have been around forever it seems, a quick search on the history reveals that the first book was produced by McLoughlin Brothers.
“1880s, they produced The Little Folks’ Painting Book, in collaboration with Kate Greenaway. They continued to publish coloring books until the 1920s, when the McLoughlin Brothers became part of the Milton Bradley Company.”

With the present popularity of adults using these books for relaxation, I decided to add some complex design elements to my free children’s colouring book, so both child and adult can colour together and who knows maybe I will produce a book just for adults in the not too distant future.

If you would like the nine sheets to colour click this link, you will also received access to a comic and MP3 audio of four of my children’s books narrated by myself. Three of the images from the book.
